This project comprises of Lift Upgrading Programme (LUP) at various HDB estates (Bukit Batok St 31/34, Jurong East St 21/31/Ave 1, Petir Road and Clementi St 14) and Home Improvement Programme (HIP) to HDB flats in Bukit Batok St 32/33 and Jurong East St 24.
LUP allows all residents to enjoy direct lift access to their unit entrances after the completion of the programme. Steel lift shafts construction were being adopted for this project instead of conventional precast reinforced concrete construction. As a result of adopting steel shaft designs, the erection time for the lift shafts is made relatively faster and also reduces the inconvenience arising from construction activities while enhancing quality of work.
HIP was introduced in response to the recommendations for greater flexibility in providing flat improvement works and precinct facilities. HIP helps lessees deal with common maintenance problems in ageing flats, such as spalling concrete and ceiling leaks, in a systematic and comprehensive manner. It also offers lessees a choice on the works they want to be included in the upgrading of their flats. Flats built up to 1986 which have not undergone the Main Upgrading Programme are eligible for HIP.
